The Surgical Tech is responsible for preparing and maintaining the sterile field, assisting with surgical procedures, and ensuring the availability of necessary instruments and supplies. The Surgical Tech is under direct supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse and/or physician, assisting in various service areas within the Surgical Suite. Other duties you would be responsible for include but are not limited to:
- Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile drapes, surgical instruments, and equipment.
- Verify and gather necessary supplies, ensuring all are sterile and in proper working condition.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other necessary items.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure, monitoring for any breaches in sterility.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team, providing support as required.
- Ensure the accurate counting of sponges, needles, and instruments before and after the procedure.
- Assist in transporting patients to the recovery area and provide necessary support during the transition.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or needs for repair to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of instrument usage and inventory.

Job Description:
As the RN Team Leader, you are a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the physician, anesthesiologist, and staff, with a specific focus on neurology within the neuro team. Duties will include overseeing any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensuring its consistency with the medical treatment plan. The RN Team Leader will assist with assignments based on acuity and staffing, particularly in neurological cases.
Other duties you would be responsible for include but not limited to:
- Assessment – an orderly process consisting of the identification, gathering and organizing subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient, family, and or significant other.
- Planning – an organized plan that identifies actual or potential problems and desired outcomes for the patient, family, and or significant other and interdisciplinary team.
- Intervention – the specific interventions or orders that are implemented consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
- Evaluation – Determining the effectiveness of interventions in achieving the plan of care and whether the desired outcomes were met. This step may lead to reassessment and adjustments to the plan of care and interventions. It also involves documenting necessary actions
